Puppy Love

As youb may know from my last journal, we had to say goodbye to our darling dog. While the grief is over, there's still that empty space that can only be filled by a cuddly ball of fluff that licks your face and stares at you with adoring eyes. Well, tonight, my aunt told my mum that she knows of a sweet little puppy in need of a home, and tomorrow we're gonna check her out! Squee!
Dad's not too keen on getting another dog, but mum's the boss so his opnion doesn't matter! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh...
I'm kinda nervous... at the same time, I kinda don't want a new dog... It's just a big commitment and also I'm missing the old fella.. oh well, we'll see how it goes...
EDIT: What a dud. She was cute enough, but didn't like to play or be cuddled. Bleh

I know this journal is old, but I had to comment. When our last dog died, we bought a new one, a border collie, off an owner that had only just got him herself, but decided she didn't love him (she was into rottweilers). He didn't like to play either. In fact he didn't even know how to, because his previous owner never played with him. Over the period of a few months, we gradually taught him how to fetch, wrestle, play tug of war, and all sorts of things. It took a very, very long time. But we gained a lot of satisfaction out of it, it made owning him that little bit more meaningful, and he grew so much personality from it.

Just because a dog doesn't like to play or cuddle doesn't mean they'll stay that way. Some dogs take a long time to warm up to an owner.

Well, thank you for your input, but I'm afraid it's a little late... we've already gotten another dog from animal rescue. I must admit I felt really bad for the poor little doggie that didn't get a home, but our current situation means we just couldn't put the time and effort into a dog that was emotionally distant...
